Used electrostatic headphones

An electrostatic headphone has no voice coil or magnet. A very thin film carries a high-voltage charge between two perforated plates, and the music signal moves it. That film is light enough to give the clear, fast sound fans love. It also means none of these will plug into a headphone jack. Each one needs an energizer, an amp that supplies the bias voltage and the drive signal, or a transformer box run from a speaker amp. Stax made two bias standards that aren't interchangeable, so match the headphone to the energizer before you buy either.
